LMC Role

The Land Management Corporation (LMC) is a key economic agency of the Government of South Australia, managing within a commercial framework a significant portfolio of land assets on behalf of the State Government.

LMC works to create, facilitate and implement residential, commercial and industrial development projects that benefit the community and create economic growth whilst also addressing design excellence, provision of community infrastructure, high quality environmental outcomes and a diversity of housing. LMC delivers development outcomes through creating opportunities for and working in partnership with the public and private sectors, to deliver award-winning projects such as Mawson Lakes, Playford Alive, Lochiel Park and the Port Adelaide Waterfront Project. The Corporation is governed by a Board comprising eight members under the chairmanship of Mike Terlet AO. The Board reports to the Minister for Infrastructure, the Hon Patrick Conlon MP. The Chief Executive is Wayne Gibbings. Download the LMC Charter here.

Our core business activities

LMC's principal activities, undertaken in a commercial manner, can be summarised as follows:

  • Ensure adequate provision of residential and industrial land to meet the growing needs of the State and to maintain a competitive advantage.
  • Identify land parcels critical to the sustainable future growth and consolidation of Adelaide, and amalgamate / assemble these parcels to facilitate urban renewal.
  • Facilitate / participate / undertake development activities as required to meet government priorities / policies / objectives.
  • Manage the disposal of surplus government land.
  • Provide strategic advice to government agencies on land-related issues.
